Dave Levtov

Co-founder, Director, Head Coach

International skating coach Dave Levtov has worked throughout North America and Europe with players of all ages and skill levels. Dave perfected his skating methodology through training with elite coaches in both the figure skating and hockey worlds. Through his mentorship in figure skating, Dave has been able to incorporate elite figure skating technique into the hockey world.

Dave developed PSA’s powerful slow and perfect approach to athletic training and has created a system that guarantees great skating for hockey. Having worked as a professional freelance musician and music teacher at Humber College – playing on hundreds of television shows and commercials – Dave understands that practice, focus, time and dedication are required to excel at an elite level.

Dave’s main focus has been long-term development with players in the Toronto area. Opportunities to help players from other parts of the world are always welcome. He has worked with several players in the KHL, junior and minor and pro leagues, as well as a vast number of minor hockey superstars.

Miles Levtov

Miles has been coaching with PowerSkating Academy since its creation, and is one of PSA’s highest level skating students. After only 7 years of playing hockey, Miles played hockey for an American College and then completed his education at York University with a degree in Kinesiology, earning honors. His phenomenal skating has allowed him to reach an elite level of sport and he took advantage of his ability and used it for his education.

“Having been raised within the PSA community, I have had the value of learning how to become the best skater I can be while also watching others reach their greatest potential. Hockey has allowed me to travel and train with some of the top coaches in the world, learning the philosophies, cues and skill progressions. My playing and coaching experience, merged with my education, allows me to see technical skills from all sides, and apply the best approach to translate that skill to a player.”

Tim Turk

NHL Shooting Coach

An NHL skills and shooting coach since 2001, Tim recently completed a 6 year stretch with the Montreal Canadiens and is currently working with the Carolina Hurricanes, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Philadelphia Flyers. His coaching specialties include puck skills, shooting, puck protection, puck battling, and body contact (impact and pinning) both offensively and defensively. Tim’s approach to teaching puck skills is in line with PowerSkating Academy’s philosophy of slow and perfect – “perfect practice makes perfect”

Dan Lichterman

Shooting and Hockey Skills

Dan played NCAA hockey at the University of St.Thomas in St.Paul, MN. After his playing career Dan began coaching which has led him to stops in the NAHL (Chicago Freeze), NCAA (Minnesota State and University of Maine) and CWHL (Toronto Furies) as well as working with many minor hockey teams and programs. Dan currently works with Teams and Private Development Sessions for Tim Turk Hockey and Just Shoot It in Mississauga.

Jurell King

Jurell has over 22 years of skating experience, first stepping onto the ice at the age of 3. Jurell is a former competitive figure skater and was coached by some of the best figure skating instructors in the world, including Olympic coaches and national/world Champions. PowerSkating Academy students greatly benefit from Jurell’s extensive coaching and competitive skating experience.

“I am believe in constant improvement and even though I don’t compete I always try and improve my own skating skills. I try and pass on the same beliefs to my students so that they can reach there own skating goals.

Grant Holliday

Power Skating & Game Specific Hockey Skills

Professional hockey player, Grant Holliday, started his hockey career in Toronto. Before playing professionally, Grant took seven years off to complete an honors degree at Queens University. Returning to the game at twenty-four years old, his training introduced him to the PowerSkating Academy and was the start of the relationship. After ten months of training, he earned a main camp spot with the Brampton Beast of the ECHL. He played that season with Danville Dashers. With twelve years of teaching experience from tyke to NHL levels, grant brings great understanding of the importance of lower body angles, and upper body control. 2018 marks Grant’s first session with PowerSkating Academy.

“Studying the learning process is one of my greatest passions. I enjoy deconstructing skills and challenging myself to sequence the progressions accordingly while delivering clear and effective feedback. I am a coach that wants to get better every single day, just like my students.”

Danielle Sparrow

Edge Specialist

Danielle grew up skating around the GTA. Her skating career earned her four Gold medals and the Diamond Dancer accolade. Danielle is a certified coach in Skate Canada and NCCP. She began coaching with the PowerSkating Academy in 2017 and currently coaches figure skating in Nova Scotia where she is attending school. She is attending Acadia University, completing her Kinesiology degree. She has developed her knowledge of technical skating foundation and translated that to effective skills for hockey players to use within their games.

Tyler Cheng

PowerSkating coach, Tyler Cheng, grew up skating in Mississauga. In 2010, he joined our program as a student and had the opportunity to be grouped with Dave & Laura. As a goalie, Tyler began skating in only a tracksuit until he was proficient enough to execute the skills and exercises in full gear. He currently is the only goalie to receive our “Award of Excellence” Jersey Award as a goalie. You may recognize him as the goalie featured in our video reel outside our offices at Scotiabank Pond and Vaughan Iceplex. Tyler is currently studying Kinesiology at Western University and is able to transfer the information he is learning, into a teaching methodology.

“As a coach, I work to be a positive influence in the hockey careers of my students because I am very aware of all the assistance and guidance I was given while progressing through my hockey career. I believe that everything in life and hockey is a process. I hope to accelerate the learning process of skating that students must go through with technical analysis and hands-on correction. By providing repetition and motivation, I feel I can help students reach their full potential.”

Konstantin Beloborodov

Konstantin grew up playing within the GTHL, progressing to playing Junior hockey in Toronto. He has been a student with the PowerSkating Academy since 2010 and now takes on multiple roles within the company. Konstantin’s commitment to our coaching standards means you may see him teach our edge foundations, stride development, hockey specific skating skills as well as hockey specific skills such as shooting, passing and stickhandling. Konstantin is currently working on his Kinesiology degree from York University.

Ryan O’Reilly

Ryan has been a student of PowerSkating Academy since he was 10 years old. He can remember throughout his own lessons, the attention to detail and goal of perfecting his technique. Building his own skating skills opened the doors for him to play at higher levels of hockey within Ontario. Having through the exact same training within the power, master power and elite classes, his understanding of the techniques allows him to share his knowledge with all levels of students.

“All my life I’ve gone too fast, moved on from things I have yet to learn and given up on things I have yet to perfect. I believe the only way a student can truly improve is through the perfection of practice. If you’re unable to perfect a skill, don’t move on to something harder, learn and perfect what you are unable to do first.”

Rhys

Power Skating Coach

Rhys grew up playing hockey within the GTHL as well being part of a Varsity City Championship team during high school. Rhys has a passion for teaching and educating youth. He brings years of teaching experience as a Camp Counselor where he taught various life skills and physical skills such as swimming, and rock climbing. Rhys is currently completing his post-grad certificate in sports marketing at George Brown.

“I have built a lot of self-confidence and strong relationships through the sport of hockey, and I want to help players enjoy the game, and stay in the sport. I had wonderful experiences through hockey and I want my students to be able to have those same opportunities.”

Cassandra Bilsborough

Cassandra grew up skating in Northern Ontario. Her skating accolades include a national competitor, a Provincial Champion in Ontario and a Skate Canada Quadruple Gold Medalist. She has been coaching with us since 2021, focusing on translating the technical skills from figure skating, into applicable skills within a players game.

William Demkiew

William grew up playing in the Toronto area and was a student of PSA since 2015. He has played AAA in the GTHL and continued on to play Jr. A with the Thunder Bay North Stars. His experience as a student allows him to translate the specific techniques and progressions to the students he works with. His focus on hard work, and not just skating fast but thinking and concentrating on the technical goals, allows players an opportunity to improve with every session.

Elias Greenwood

Elias grew up skating in the GTA and started skating with PowerSkating Academy when he was 14 years old. Being a student of PowerSkating Academy, and Dave, he understands a lot of progressions and skills that he worked on to reach his skating level. Elias was drafted to Kingston Frontenacs in the 2022 OHL Draft. He uses his hockey IQ to assist in his knowledge translation to his students.

Mason Chen

Mason has been a student of PSA for almost 10 years. The strong foundation of skating Mason developed gave him the opportunity to improve his ability year after year. He recently played at a top prep school in New England and led his league in scoring as D and finished top 5 in scoring within New England. Mason recently played in the NAHL for the Chippewa Steel and will be playing for Williams College next season.

“As a current player and PSA skater, I know just how important a strong skating foundation is to becoming a successful player. As a coach, I hope to give back to the same community that helped me. Through technical analysis, repetition, and relatability with my players, I aim to help my skaters reach their full potential”.

Sydney Wayne

Sydney grew up skating with the PowerSkating Academy, having her first lessons with us when she was 8 years old. Having been a part of the leaside community her whole life, she continues to work with varying Leaside teams in different capacities. She is currently going to Humber College, studying recreation, leisure and sports management.
