Integrated Athletic Development

This Integrated Athletic Development program is for ages 7 – 10 to prepare students for the physical requirements of on-ice development. BEFORE  the Power Classes, students will enter FITS Toronto gym develop foundational movement patterns, especially single-leg control. This is a vital skill for the technical on-ice skating sessions.  Included in the dryland program will be FITS Hockey Metrics, and access to the TeamBuildr app which includes homework exercises and instructional videos to enhance development at an increased pace.

This Integrated Athletic Development program is for ages 10-13 a to develop Single Leg Control that enhances stride length and edge control for hockey players. AFTER a Power Class, athletes enter FITS Toronto for a one-hour dryland workout that has been customized according to the results of their FITS Hockey Metrics. Students will undergo testing on day one – which assesses their movement, hip range of motion and force plate testing to assist their development. Included in the dryland program will be access tot he TeamBuildr app with homework exercises and instructional videos to increase development.

This program is for high level students who require specific scheduling to coordinate their in-season needs. This program schedule is based by communication with PowerSkating Academy and FITS Toronto do find offer the classes that will offer the best level of improvement for the athlete.

What kind of hockey equipment, hockey skates or figure skates should I buy and where?
Skates are the most important piece of equipment in hockey and for your lessons. The quality and proper fit directly affect your progress. Skates make a difference! We highly recommend going to a sport specific store that spends time fitting you and/or your child properly.

If I miss a class does PowerSkating Academy offer make-up lessons?
We do not offer make-up lessons. We focus on the quality of our school and doing what we say. Make-ups lessons are disruptive to the class.
